College girl stoned and burned for naming Jesus

4b3b6549-5a3b-48e3-b6dd-a5f0227b2fa4_286Deborah Samuel’s college classmates asked her how she passed her exams. She told them that she attributed it to Jesus. She told them that if Jesus was not her Lord, then she never would have passed.

Her college is located in an area that is known for encouraging the radicalization of militant Muslims.

After Deborah courageously spoke of her faith, many of the students became angry and they asked her to withdraw her statement of Jesus being her Lord and helper in her exams. This she refused. She was then accused of blasphemy against prophet Muhammad for which the consequence is death.

Tragically, the students took up stones to throw at her and sticks to beat her with until she died. Not being content with this action, they built a fire and threw her body on it. They proceeded to celebrate this execution with religious fervor.

‘J’ reported, “This is just one of the persecutions Christians in northern Nigeria, specifically the northwest region, are facing. Put us in your prayers. Our hearts bleed, many of our communities are displaced and they are dispossessed of their ancestral lands. Our hopes lie in the hand of our God.”

Despite this horrendous environment, ‘J’ and his team continue tirelessly to build up the faith of the believers AND to reach Muslims, including radicalized militants who desperately need to know the love of Christ.

Love and appreciation,
Roger and Brooks
