During disciple-making movement trainings Roger oftentimes chooses a random person to ask questions about themselves and their work. Typically, this is someone he knows very little about, so he has no idea what or how successful they might be in their efforts to share Jesus Christ with others. Here’s just one of their stories (Rebecca is pictured in the middle):
The school director took us to visit a new family from the school. We stood with the family in their very tiny house not much larger than a walk-in closet.
John, the director, said to us, “Just look down and look at this floor!”
But the church planting team from Burundi came into her village this year. Here is their story:
In May we spent an afternoon with Peter and his family to hear firsthand the impact the new farm and borehole is having:
“My home was in very poor shape and we were not even protected well from the weather. We had to walk far for water just to cook and wash with.
“We were provided a borehole and then seeds to begin our farm. We were given coaching and technical farming knowledge. Since then, we have been able to build a new home, feed our family, and provide school fees for the children".
Sitting with Samson was like being in the twilight zone. He was so quiet, so humble, barely whispering as I asked him to share his story. He began by telling me he was a farmer. He told me he knew a man named Sylvester who saw him in town and asked if he could come visit him. Samson told him, “No, not today, I am going to plant, but maybe next week.” Sylvester did indeed go visit Samson at his home the next week. The result? Samson received Christ. With Sylvester’s encouragement, he invited his friends who help him work in his fields to come and do Discovery Bible Study (DBS) with him. The result? Seven people asked to be baptized.
